Written Against Cultural Stagnation: The Statement

My work is a written orientation with few feelings evaded
for the sake of my sanity some feelings are not debated
They say “how can you have so much love, you don’t seem elated”
as if they know me inside and somehow they’re related
It’s safe to say when I found love I upgraded
and that the ego in my heart got inflated
But at the end of the day, I hope people are persuaded
to focus on the problem of why we are so degraded when depicted
becoming the victims who willingly participated
The demeaning of our culture is being celebrated
The nation’s ignorance is being congratulated
That may be why my soft side is gated
All along they told me my thoughts were outdated
They say it’s no more power in the people and my words are wasted
on a generation where ignorance is not only bliss, but emulated.

REGINA'S ROOM

Dedicated to the idea of love and the building of foundations for the future. We believe love is the catalyst of change and growth. Here is where hearts meet words.

Scribed for a Queen

Reveal yourself to me unconditionally
Emerge out of the darkness of this world as the light designed for me
Give me your heart and your mind, body, and soul will surely follow
Invite me to keep your company for endless tomorrows
Navigate me through your dreams and allow me to steer my scenes
Anoint me your king because you are truly my queen

Place me under your spell of passionate reaction
Enter a realm of love with the greatest combination of both words and action
Receive me with open arms and an open mind that is true
Sow the seeds of loyalty and what reaps will be me and you
Insist that you receive your respect due
Take my hand as we journey beyond land
Where the sky is not only the limit
It is where we stand

Reveal yourself to me unconditionally
Emerge out of the darkness of this world as the light designed for me
Give me your heart and your mind, body, and soul will surely follow
Invite me to keep your company for endless tomorrows
Navigate me through your dreams and allow me to steer my scenes
Anoint me your king because you are truly my queen

THE ART OF BELIEF

The recognition of a higher power is highly essential to one’s growth. This page acknowledges the spiritual forces within us. Chosen verses courtesy of Regina Reed for WACS

May the Winds Reach Us In Time!

Inspired by: Ezekial 37

As we multiply and our numbers become greater
in a covenant with ourselves is where we must place our favor
We must place our neighbor on our level
and recognize our power lies in a united endeavor
We shake at the sound of speakers and leaders
though we find no force to move us when a feeling reaches us
[Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: We are cut off from our parts. 37:11]
We have managed to disconnect ourselves from each other
while the calm before the storm has us at ease in mass numbers
We breathe no air, burying ourselves in despair, death, destruction, and desolation
We must empower ourselves with inner peace making
as we multiply and generations rise
with the wind behind our backs and our feet solid in the soil of pride.
May the winds reach us in time!

THE BRICK CITY BLUES

Brick City Blues

In a city where negativity brews

Where the energies of frustration and desperation fuse

creating a loss for words, so much for the good news.

Ironically, I’ve seen Blood members singing the blues.

In a city where time changes by the hour

One minute it’s calm, the next second tears shower

Creating puddles of pain, the pavement receives flowers

While candles illuminate a situation that towers

Over a city where at anytime attitudes can ooze

Into the cracks of rationality, when that happens we all lose

Creating a monster as the cauldron pot stews

A mixture wicked in its intention, which path will we choose?

In a city which is ours, holding historical power

Though over the decades we became sour

Where tasteless acts of rage devours

mind frames of young brains, change is about us!

THE OBAMA QUARTER

Generation Movement: Part II

Today begins movement
Yesterday we celebrated America’s outer improvement
Within our borders remain troubled waters
Within our states remain hatred
Within us are the stories
Within our borders remain disagreement, conflict, and isolation
What within us will be pulled out to bring about a changing nation

As we reflect on our pages of history
May we begin to write a chapter a piece
in an anthology of the time the mountaintop was reached
With the belief that we are a long way away from the true creed
We rally the creative
We rally the ambitious
We rally the free

The challenge ahead for us all is a rough one
With society’s ills we can’t help but feel this outcome
will mean nothing if we don’t move
and prove that despite what’s “news”
we want something

SOCIETY'S FORECAST

Justice

While justice eats greedy
the most deserving end up needy.
Infuriating those who want it
and know it is greatly needed.
The scales are unbalanced
yet unchallenged.
Bars lock souls with keys God does not manage
Those same keys lock doors to the closets of injustice
that hold the skeletons of Justice’s miscarriages.
The hunt is for young Black prey targeted without warrant
We pray that Justice gets full from this feed of torment
While society
with all its ills at the forefront
remains dormant.
This unspoken pain is written in our souls
scripted in our history
erasing our faith in a system that has no empathy
no sympathy
and no regard for the community.
Absolutely corrupted power
When 50 shots fill the air
somebody was wrong that hour.
The echoes of another sad song devoured
“Justice” has again reared its ugly head
in the form of a verdict
that immediately lowers heads
but heightens minds with a purpose.

For Sean Bell.

THE ART OF POLITICS

As we celebrate the election of Barack Obama, we fully recognize political past and present as a whole through displays of political poetry and prose.

Lorraine Audubon:Phase I

Echoes of a dream left unfulfilled

When sounds of this magnitude ring no one is healed

This is what it sounds like when time stands still

This is what it looks like when hate turns real

John, Malcolm, Martin, and Bobby in 5 years

where did we go from here?

With inspiration slain and the people drained

times as they knew it would change

Ms. Lorraine Audubon

has affected our hearts with global pain

Our spirit is in question

Amid the depression future revolutionaries are arrested

The unity of the community is tested

Add government drug sales that flooded the streets

Subtract multiple brothers who flooded cells in fleets

The revolution was being quelled

No means necessary would be dispelled

The movement suppressed through solutions of death, division, and Counter Intel

That grandstanding Hoover plan to disarm hands which rebel

Resistance led to sentences

indented into our consciousness

Deception with the perception of truth staining the glass ceiling

of a nation embroiled in looting and raw feelings

Picture the watts when the lights went off

then the lights went off over in Newark

Now the city is charred and filled with the national guard

armed with a curfew to create control of an uncontrollable force

forcing the nation into regression of its thoughts

While the draftees return from the big V

to spend their days chemically imbalanced under V A bed sheets

The balance of power greatly shifted toward the Watergate Right’s hook

At the podium stands a crook

After Johnson’s failed great society attempt the country was the hostage Nixon took

Passed bills from the latter years made it appear

as if progress was imminent through the shadows of fear

Who was to know what was near?

To be continued…

WACS Quote of the Moment

One thing alone I charge you. As you live, believe in life! Always human beings will live and progress to greater, broader and fuller life. The only possible death is to lose belief in this truth simply because the great end comes slowly, because time is long.

Evolution

Searching for the unseen

through the forest beyond the trees.

Searching for a peace of mind

in a field of shattered dreams.

Searching for time

When They Carve My Name In Stone

The only thing I've ever owned

no strings attached and no debt to pay

I held on to it with total control

The path I paved through countless days

sleepless nights, restless hours, and weary minutes

A story worth words unspoken and unscathed

in the name of liberation

They will carve my name in a stone made for me

yet I am not in a grave

my spirit flies

Remembrance floats so high

that it trickles down

to the many who won't ask why

They will simply accept the presence

of a soul manifested

in the form of a lesson and a blessing

Heavenly I will sit

promoting the gifts of the future

as I did in my present day life maneuvers

When they carve my name in stone

let it be known

Just incase they thought wrong while I was in the physical form.
